New, Star Union-style bridge (from Star Fleet Command PC game), heavier pylons to support the larger nacelles, replaced 24 phaser ball turrets (12 banks) with 9 collimated phaser strips (Ambassador class style)

This shot is intended to show a basic size comparison of the original, Enterprise-A style nacelles vs. the new advanced nacelles. The new nacelles are 1.93x the size of the original ones. Two of the new ones still provide more than 25% more mass/power than three of the old ones, allowing me to return to the simpler aesthetics of a two-nacelle design.

The Washington class advanced dreadnought is the culmination of over 25 years of experience and technology. The Class is controversial for the Federation in that while Starfleet's mission is ostensibly one of peace and exploration, the Washington is designed purely for fighting. The ship is 1.27x the volume of the Enterprise-A, according to the CAD meshes. Depending on how much you believe the Ent-A masses, the Washington is a Type XII - XIV vessel. Though the outward appearance is that of a contemporary to the Enterprise-A, the Washington packs state-of-the-art equipment and is considered to be an "Advanced" ship. Commissioning date is 2298, 27 years after Enterprise-A and 10 years after Excelsior . Each nacelle contains two sets of warp field generating coils. Depending on mission requirements, a given nacelle can operate with either two smaller fields in parallel or one larger field in series.
